This work was supported by a scholarship from the Karl und Veronica Carstens Foundation. Since then, she has presented the results of her work at both national and international specialist congresses.

At the same time as studying for her doctorate, after she received her veterinary approbation she was initially employed as an assistant vet in an equine practice and then as a freelance vet in several equine clinics and practices, and was in charge of several tournaments (dressage, show jumping, racing, endurance riding). Since 2005, she has been a registered endurance riding vet of the VDD.
She attended the BackBone - Academy for Veterinary Chiropractic and Healing Arts where she qualified as an animal chiropractor. Dr. med. vet Astrid Reitz is also a certified member of the “International Veterinary Chiropractic Association” (IVCA), which sets the international standards for animal chiropractors.
